Sometimes the epiphany is that
there will never be an epiphany.
Sometimes you can handle that.
Sometimes you can’t.
Sometimes the truth is
there just isn’t truth to be had
just what happened and
what happens next while
you’re here to sort good from bad.
Sometimes you’re buddhas
sometimes you’re bodhis
just flawed enough to stay here
to keep teaching and learning
but rarely does that rationalization
ever put a lid on that yearning
that yearning
that burning
I’m on fire
I’m on fire
I’m burning up with the nearness of the light
burning up here in the darkness
burning at the end of the night
waiting for the cool of the sun
for the epiphany that
might never come and
that’s the epiphany.
