no set of footprints at all in poetry

the number at which you cross the threshold
from a collection of sand grains
to suddenly a beach is vague
but eventually it does transubstantiate
one moment just some sand
another moment we’re a beach-head
at some point it Just Happens
you feel like this significant speck
until the very moment that you wake
a giant massive thing that can
hold the ocean back from the land
one day you’re just the beach
