Nothing much to write first thing of the day except… I woke up from quite the dream. Not sexy or fun, either. In the dream I was discussing my trip to Europe that I took in High School and I was picking at the toenail on my left foot big toe. While speaking, Wife bumped into me, and my entire toenail ripped off. Wife started screaming and telling me it was gross; asking why would I do something like that. I started yelling that it wouldn’t have happened if she hadn’t bumped into me. Then I woke up.
My Omaha trip was postponed so instead of “urgency because of a busy weekend” I could conceivably come in to work over the weekend. And as stupid as it would seem, I’m giving it serious thought. Not to do any actual, pen to paper work, but just to keep the office organized and clean. As it stands now, I’m thinking/hoping to fly this particular coop early as we could have nice weather for a brief moment late in the day and I’d like to enjoy it before the Grey returns.
WOAH! FASCINATING! I was just reading up on Medical Issues and found myself reading about Ethics Panels. The panels that consider ethical items blah blah blah. Thing is; these panels are made up of Doctors, Divinity Scholars, and Attorneys. With my BA in Religion and my JD… I could fit on an ethics board twice. Only… I don’t know how one would go about getting that job. And I’m sure someone enthusiastically requesting to be the person that helps make the hardest decisions for patients would get a sideways look. But certainly something worth considering if the opportunity ever came up!
Interesting… in a non-interesting sort of way. This morning, I took care of a case or two and made phone calls. I applied to a job I’m super unqualified for with a cover letter saying “I know I’m not qualified legally; but my experience combines to make me a semi-suitable candidate”. I phoned/faxed a Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas to try to serve the Biological Father (likely in jail) of a child who is dangerously close to becoming a Sexual Abuse Perpetrator. And still managed to waste LOADS of time this morning. Now, I’ve actually got a pretty easy task (or several). Which may be exactly why I’m procrastinating. Send an e-mail; organize the desk; call an officer; do some paperwork. Easily handled. But… I’m not doing it right now. So… either, I’m an impotent man baby throwing a tantrum of inaction because I’m not where I want to be; or this is apathy expressing itself as inaction because I don’t give an angstrom of a shit about this place/job.
Oh, here’s a fun/random/cooky thing. So, I often talk about my friends that live in other places because I’ve got friends that live in so many places but none of them live here. Some of my friends in DM, hoping/excited for my return; added me to a Secret Facebook Group for gamers/dnd fans/etcetera that they hang out with. Essentially, taking my Self-Discovery from Law School… adding my friends in DM… and creating a larger base of friends in DM based on who I discovered I was in Law School. A very cool thing, obviously. But… of course… more of that… “Hey, live in DM, dude.” Of course… not including PB Friends… if I thought about it… places where I have family/friends.... Los Angeles; San Diego; San Francisco; Loveland, CO; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Omaha, NE; Ames, IA; Des Moines, IA; Independence, IA; St. Louis, MO; Chicago, IL; Madison, WI; St. Paul, MN; Cincinnati, OH; New York, NY; Virginia Beach; Washington D.C.; Rapid City, SD; Kona, HI; Salt Lake City, UT; Atlanta, GA; Millbrook, AL; Cordova, TN… that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head. So… yeah, everywhere… but where I live.
There was an article that came out from “The Week” on their website. I tried to investigate the source and snopes the Article because (unlike some on both sides of the aisle) I do not want to add to the deluge of fake news in our world. I could not find anything openly denying or openly affirming the article. I will post it, and it’s findings HERE but the outline is as follows:
51% of people who voted for Trump said “The Bowling Green Massacre” (which never happened) was proof of the need for heightened security. 2% of people who voted for Hillary Clinton said the same. That breaks down into 23% of this country saying “The Bowling Green Massacre” (WHICH NEVER HAPPENED) is proof of the necessity of Trump’s ban. 65% of Americans oppose a Muslim Ban while 22% support one.
And yet… I’ve seen everywhere that Trump supporters (and Trump himself) continue to say that he is doing The Will of the People and that Most People Want The Ban. We… truly… live in a country… where facts don’t matter… and evidence is meaningless.
This is random but it stems from how much of my life and spare time are spent trolling the internet. Not Trolling like “Trump is a Troll” but trolling like… fishing. Do you guys fish? Do you know about trolling? Sure, it can seem like a lazy way to fish; but it can also be effective. ANYWAY… trolling the internet I discovered “These Lucky Guys! Dammit!”
MAYBE this is because I went to law school… which could also explain why so many voters are saying “Lawyers shouldn’t be politicians!” but… this is kind of important (credit to CK)
