Someone called Donald Trump a “moderate, really more of a centerist than I was thinking.” And I want to vomit. Not because of the idiocy of that remark; not because of the blind reeking bullshit of calling his actions “centerist” but because of what it implies for the future.

After George W was elected; a lot of liberals were PISSED. Dedicated to attacking and belittling everything that came out of the W White House.
After Barack Obama was elected; a lot of conservatives were PISSED. Dedicated their careers to obstructing as much as possible.

Then came Donald Trump.

My hope… my deepest hope… after a Trump election… was that America would WAKE UP.
George W made some mistakes; but he also did some things well. He remained true to the creedo of “compassionate conservative” in some ways but he also expanded the power of government (especially the power of the President) in ways I particularly didn’t like. Barack Obama remained true to the creedo of “progressive liberal” in some ways (including expanding the powers of the President) but he also didn’t create an economic nightmare.

What we need in this country is a TRUE centerist who represents both conservative and liberal ideas while attempting to represent the American People against the threat of Big Government (a government big enough to give you everything you want, is large enough to take everything you have) and Big Corporations (if the bottom dollar is the bottom line, life is another item on an expense sheet).

What we got was Donald Trump. A man who breathes hate. The pro-Trump videos I’ve seen? Mostly white people over 45 with a serious undertone of fear in their voice as they discuss immigration and Muslims. Fear. Not hope. Not strength. These are people who have 1000% bought in to the “American Carnage” and “dystopian worldview” that Trump was selling. And here is where it gets bad… people see Trump being pushed back; they see him not “tackling” what they are afraid of… and call him moderate. They call him centerist. So… they may push someone MORE willing to tear down American Values, American Law, and the US Constitution in order to deal with their fear. But the funny thing is.... America is not presently the dystopian future that Trump has been selling. It may become that with Trump in power. And if it becomes a dystopia… Trump’s supporters (if they remain as they have been) will blame it on the fact that Trump wasn’t allowed to do enough.

I am honestly afraid right now that we have seen the death of True Center. That no more will this country enjoy an Honest Moderate in office.

At present, I can only see two reasons why the GOP hasn’t impeached Trump already. (Which would be a plus. Pence might be strongly anti-LGBTQA but at least Pence has enough experience and intelligence to run the country). (1) Republicans realize that Trump is a spectacle… a buffoon that grabs people’s attention… so if Trump can keep people focused on him, maybe the GOP can do whatever it wants unimpeded. OR (2) The GOP is terrified of Trump supporters; many of whom still say that Trump’s excellence stems from not being a Washington Insider.

Either way.... I can’t say it enough.
Not as a political concept.
Not as a humanitarian concept.
Not even as a religious or ethical concept.

As someone who genuinely loves, respects, and is grateful for the United States of America… I am worried to the point of existential terror. Trump has been in office for 11 days. Via his executive actions and nominations; President Trump has already made George W Bush look like a wise conservative figurehead. Via his tweets, demands of the British Government, and fiendish manipulation of facts and the media… he has already made Kim Jong-Un look like a well-disciplined picture of sanity.

If you support Trump… not if you are a Republican or if you are conservative… if you support TRUMP and are not part of the Alt-Right… I am confused.
