Hoar Frost

My mind a perfect blank
until the really darling
doctor
approached with a can
to freeze
a needle to poke
a sponge to sop the tears
of agony from the
destruction
of my acceptance
the pause
in my transient belief
the shot would be

painless.

(The word choices.) I didn’t use all of the words, but those I used I used passionately.

clan
hoary
pretend
sponge
destruction
bones

blank
transient
indulge
train
gooseberries
