I sat up rather late into the night, out side the trees in darkness creaked in the wind, also lose things were on the move, not a wind that will blow the house down; but a sound you can listen to while sleep takes over .… … .. .

I awaked early and there was no sound, the world and the house were in silence, with my glasses out of reach the display on my clock was a jumble of red fuzzy lines, I closed my left eye and squinting my right eye just enough I could make out 06: something so I turned away seeking sleep.

After a late night I slept late, it was over cast and I didn’t feel like getting up, but I needed to get up and received a welcome from the dogs; they sniffed about the kitchen while I cook rice and scrambled eggs for them.

Breakfast and lunch merge into one, to late for carrels and to dull for a Samwidge, so I make toast and warm tomato-beans; beans on toast simple and warm.

The New Year is settling into it’s routine of moving on each day, next week February will be on us, it is the shortest of months and there be just four weeks and it will be March.

A month of longer days, spring will be in swing and a little more warmth will lighten the cold; a time of early colour and buds opening on the ground and in trees.
