I swear I'm getting my rant back in Normal entries

So I was reading this article from some Jewish advocacy site online and they were going off on Trump for neglecting to mention 6 million dead Jews on Holocaust remembrance day, that would have been the 27th the same day he wrote an executive order ban muslims (yes, I’m glossing over details). And when the omission was brought to his attention some staffer, not spicer, said that the administration was incredibly inclusive.

I found out about sixteen years ago I lost some people in the camps, but that’s not important, it’s like saying I’m one eighth Cherokee and know the red mans burden. Um, ethnically I’m 100 percent Jew, but for all practical purposes I’m not a Jew at all, not reformed, not a Jew gone gentile , not … doesn’t matter. My grandfather and two of his brothers escaped Poland during the last Tsarist Pogrom. I didn’t know I had people still there when Hitler walked in Europe.

Not the point. Hang on. I had a point, it was just here a minute ago .. aha! There it is.

So, the scariest thing, to me at least, about a “Good German” during the years leading up to and through the second world war is that they were Good Germans before that too, just a completely different kind of good german. Like the frog in pot of water. Huh. I’ve used that twice this week, maybe some people don’t know what that means. If you toss a frog into a pot of boiling water he will hop the fuck out. If a frog is sitting in a pot of tepid water on the stovetop and you slowly heat it to boiling, he’ll be on a French menu before he knows what happened. I’m glossing over a bit, but it’s a repeatable experiment, try it at home, just don’t tell me about it please.

Point, point, point, dawg, stick to the point. Yeah, these folks were just living in the fatherland doing German shit and this slow nationalism, or rather fast fascism disguised as nationalism, began instructing them as to how good Germans behaved, and sure I’m leaving out all the various ways and means, propaganda, wrecked economy from first world war and other pressures, but it wasn’t a nation of Nazis until it became a nation of Nazis, it was just a bunch of Germans sitting in a pot of tepid water.

I am not calling Trump a Fascist (not yet) or a Nazi (not yet) and I sure as hell am not calling him a frog. You and I, however, our fates entwined and of infinite more interest to me than a trump reich, we might be frogs. Keep checking the tempature under your ass willya? And the guy who is telling you it’s a jacuzzi? Sink him.
