Having a 5 year old can be really interesting these days. Cody thinks about the world now (he turns 5.5 tomorrow) and it’s really funny to hear what he comes up with. He absolutely LOVES school and even begged me to take him once recently when the school buses were cancelled (he takes the bus) because it was his “show and tell” day. So I did. He brought a hot wheels car with him that changes color with heat....and he told me that he told the class that it also goes really fast when you press the top of it and it will show you the way to the library if you can’t find it haha. And then he said, when it didn’t do those things he just told them it must need new batteries. Surrrrrrrrrrrre Cody LOL.
Cody updates me on the weather regularly- “Mom, it’s SUPER raining out! I think it might rain for 100 days!” and he is really helpful with Summer. He plays with her and talks to her in a baby voice like I do lol. She absolutely adores him. But one thing about 5 year old boys is that they love to talk about stuff like poop and farts. Cody loves to draw at school and he recently brought home a picture of our family on a plane. I thought it was really well done.....until he said, “and this is you sitting in the back Mom! You’re sitting in your seat taking a big poop!” LOL whaaaaaaat? And yes, there was brown crayon on my bum and everything lol.
He is a really sweet kid though....he likes to give me cuddles when I am not busy with the baby and he says, “I really like you Mommy!” all the time (I told him we should say love about family members but he still says “like” lol). He recently drew a picture for my mom and asked if we could send it in the mail since she’s in Florida. So I put it in an envelope, he decorated the outside with stickers and just him and I drove to the post office to get it a stamp and so he could put it in the mail box. My mom hasn’t received it yet but he asked me how to write out “I love you Babcia!” (grandma in polish) and he drew some hearts on it.....that was all his idea and it melted my heart. My mom will likely cry when she opens it lol. And say what the heck is this a drawing of haha.
Cody recently taught Summer how to growl lol. Yes, she really does it now when you growl at her. He’s silly like that. He is mostly the type of kid who likes to follow the rules but of course he gets into trouble sometimes, mostly from wrestling with Miles. He is a high energy kid and is always up for doing something fun whether it’s playing in the snow or just going to the grocery store with me and helping me put stuff in the cart. He’s also very imaginative and is always driving around cars and coming up with different situations that they are experiencing like, “there’s a huge snowstorm right now and it’s a good thing these cars have their snow tires because they don’t want to have an accident” or whatever. His teacher sends home a homework bingo chart that is optional each month and him and I work at it so he can learn as much as possible. We did a few things on it yesterday like, he practised writing his full name out several times, he wrote out the words of the week 3 times, he made his bed and he counted as high as he could. At the end of the month, if he brings the homework bingo sheet back to school and it’s completed, he gets a small prize.
Cody loves sports....we’ve had him in t ball one summer and soccer last summer. As well as Mommy/Daddy and child basketball and hockey. He said he loves soccer the most and even wears his cleets around the house for fun so I guess he’ll be doing that again next summer.
It’s still hard to believe I have a 5 year old sometimes! How the heck did that happen? lol
