solitude itself a kind of offering
to the angry gods of loneliness
in hopes when you leave your hermitage
you won’t have to be alone anymore
or at least for a little while
we soak up our splendid isolation
until we cannot take another minute
of humanity’s indifference and then
we hope there’s someone there for us
maybe it even happens for a little while
