liminial spaces in poetry

subliminal messaging’s for the birds now
we don’t even have the attention span
to take in single frames of content out of context
superliminal messaging is now where its at
the images that are everywhere all the time
whether you like it or not
if only in the corner of your eye
the golden arches or chairman mao
trump Jesus or mickey mouse, anyhow
it’s not the things seen half a blink
sinking in unknown
it’s the stuff you can’t escape that
seeps
that seeps in deep deep deep
whether you like it or not
that rules the world
superliminal messages just are
they just are and are everywhere.

the trick is, darling
in the tricks that don’t
seem like tricks at all
if you just keep saying it
over and over and over
some people might start
to believe it

so give me money
so introduce your cute single friends to me
so cut me some slack, Lord
so it’s all superliminial now
