men of goodwill in poetry

thrift store tee-shirt
battered, worn through
15 maybe 20 years old now
there in the faded text
there was a website’s address
we’ve had the internet
with us that long now
ephemera marked with dot-coms
are washed out by the sun now
are now split and incoherent
cracked by water and disregard
because it came into reality
when I was still a child

it still seems so new to me
but it isn’t
I’m just lost in my own
life’s perspective

in a couple of years
the shirt will then be
entirely illegible
though of course
I will be too eventually
we all will, by and by
