No NoJoMo here! in A small but passable life.

I finished reading “The Image” by Daniel Boorstin. He published it in 1962 and it is amazing how prophetic it is.

Some quotes from the book:

“The imposition of power on people’s lives.” (His definition of government.)

“The celebrity is a person who is known for his well-knowness.”

“When the traveler’s risks are insurable he has become a tourist.”

“The shadow has become the substance.” (Our every day lives.)

So yeah, there’s that.

I spent quite a bit of time perusing dictionaries and the thesaurus looking for the perfect one word descriptor of our new soon-to-be “leader of the free world”. There were plenty of semi-qualified words but I wanted one that would be as totally encompassing as possible.

The winner?

dipshit:
1. A despised person; a moron; an ineffectual person; one with a habit of being wrong, loudly and often.

And then I found a descriptor of what is shaping up to be his administration.

dipshitopia:

A state of maximum stupidity resulting from the congregation of dipshits.

So yeah, until it is proven wrong or I stumble across something better that will have to do.

Anyway. Fall has arrived. It was eighty degrees the day before yesterday. This morning it was twenty-seven with the windchill factor.

While in the desert I often think about how nice it would be to feel a cool or even cold breeze, but then when I’m here and it finally arrives I start thinking about how nice it would be to lay by the pool again. But then I think about how quiet it is here in the mornings and how the TV is always on in the mornings there. Yeah I know, such first world dilemmas.

Thanksgiving dinner this year will be on the Wednesday before as the youngsters will be working overnight Thursday night and will need to sleep all day Thursday. Daughter’s mother will be hosting. I’m sure it will as fine a day as last year was here.

I’m now all caught up on “Shameless”. Other shows on the “currently watching” roster are: “Westworld”, “You’re the Worst”, “Last Man on Earth”, and “Grey’s Anatomy”. And there are a half dozen or so shows that I’m waiting to watch additional seasons as soon as they start back up.

Is NoJoMo about over? I’m tired of deleting “survey” entries instead of reading them. They are second only to “my dream last night” entries in irrelevancy. To me, as a reader, anyway. Sorry.

I believe the house across the street has become somewhat of a homeless shelter. This morning there was a bicycle, a three wheeled baby stroller and a wheelchair piled high with stuff parked out front. Like Daughter says, “You never know who’s going to come out of there in the morning.”

One more piece of trivia before I go. Do you know that Mike Pence believes, actually believes, that “gay” can be cured with electroshock therapy?

Like I’ve said before, we’re in for a shitshow like the planet has never seen before.
