Meanwhile, in more positive news, I just cracked 50k on Day Nine of NaNoWriMo. What blows my mind is I managed only a thousand or so words on the first day, and then just barely brought myself to par on the second and third days. Then on the fourth day, somehow, I found my muse and EXPLODED.

Based on the length of the “First Act”, I estimate the total length will be 80-90k. Should easily best my previous effort of 76k. Frankly, while I have “the month”, I want to finish principle writing by the 21st. Reading through and editing something of this length is a massive undertaking. Not to downplay my previous accomplishments, but most of them are kind of meandering messes. Entertaining meandering messes, but very meandering and not as focused.

There’s absolutely no fluff in this. Everything deals with the main character in some way. There’s no dream sequences for the hell of it. There’s no using cheese as a plot device. Okay, I do have one sequence with a dildo factory, but it’s not me without inane antics. AND LULZ FOR ALL. Otherwise, this may be the most serious thing I’ve ever written.

As in, editing/revising means changing things so I get the tone and feels as powerful as possible. And like I said, with something this length, IT TAKES TIME.

Anyway. 5th NaNoWriMo ‘win’. Where’s my merit badge and complementary cookie?
