Write about something common that makes you wonder.

I don’t wish to stir up the issue as contentiously as I have before; but something that truly brings me an almost spiritual curiosity in the world around us is beauty and aesthetic. Genuinely, deeply fascinates me. Because most (if not all) people have an experience where something just… speaks to them… appeals to them. And though we may try to rationalize it… it strikes me as odd and intriguing. Why do some people personally enjoy Degas more than Cezzane? Or Pablo Neruda more than George Gordon Byron? Or Metallica more than 3 Doors Down? Or Kathy Ireland more than Cindy Crawford? Or Joseph Gordon Levitt more than Ryan Gosling? Or Vera Wang more than Gianni Versace?

Especially noting that in all of those scenarios; the opposite exists as well. For people who prefer Cezzane, Byron, 3 Doors Down, Crawford, Gosling, and Versace.

And while beauty in its varying forms is special and to be appreciated; beauty in all of its varying forms is everywhere and, thus, “something common.” So that is my answer. Beauty. The nature of beauty. The development of an aesthetic. WHY each person finds beauty in what they do and HOW that standard is developed. That is my wonder about something common.

Write about something common that makes you wonder.
