We have arrived.
In a space
requiring
backs of hands barely touching
foreheads and lips on shoulders
my feet tucked under your thigh
Ian and i met downtown portland to see a matinee showing of Arrival. I loved it and would see it again. I love the quiet stillness that Amy Adams holds in her character. The music was gorgeous. And the final line of this movie made me cry.
From here we walked around downtown a bit. I was easily distracted by the shiny, the unusual. The idea of being able to see into peoples’ windows.
A drink and bites to eat at a place on Mississippi. My leg pressed against his. Walking the neighborhood, pointing out the shapes of windows and hoping to see the life within. Across I5, down an alley, holding hands, holding his arm. A drive to see a house that was supposed to be a-deck in christmas lights.
And he dropped me off at my car, with certain plans to spend more quality time together. Whispers of a quiet corner at a bar with pinball. A movie at Kennedy School where i can end up in his lap on a couch. A malted milk at an old school pharmacy soda counter.
Many times i just looked straight into his eyes. Just gazed into those blue eyes, that face so full of character.
Nary a lip on lip.
