Cubs, Election and Jimi Hendricks in Normal entries

It’s early November and an election year. Americans seem tense and not the good kind of tense. I saw a facebook factory made post that said ‘I support law enforcement, use correct bathroom for my sex and stand for the national anthem … Apparently I’m a deplorable American.” I think he’s confusing Hillary Clinton with Colin Kaepernick. Or, rather, whoever made that large blck font on lime green bathroom did. It’s not the sort of thing that makes the public vote look informed.
Meanwhile something important and tense is happening on the public American stage where everyone is polite about it; The world series going into game seven tonight. Not so much as a “Hey Ump, you’re missing a great game.” Normally if the tigers aren’t playing I’m not that interested, well, unless the Red Sox are in it.
Baseball loves an underdog. Both the Indians and Cubs qualify as underdogs. I’m rooting for the cubs for no better reason than I’ve been to Wriggly field and they started off down. Cleveland fans has a good reason to be a bit tense.
When I was a kid part of what made baseball Americas game was how polite and gentlemanly most players were, in general. Sure, there were assholes historical like Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth, but both the tigers and the Yankees had gentlemen. Why was this important? Because they were role models. I think the reason a lot of football players thank mom and Jesus when interviewed is because it’s as close to gentlemen as they can get and a lot easier than showing respect for opponents. Football may be the American game now. It’s aggressive, mean spirited and has cause to have and use a rule for unsportsmanlike conduct. A penalty, fifteen yards. It’d be a different game, I think, if they used a penalty box like hockey.
People got mad or supportive of Kaepernick which passes for making a political point these days. Being rude and disrespectful is a lot easier and cheaper than using the gross amount of money and fame to effectively make change. My brother was in Vegas at the match where Tyson bit dudes ear (I want to say Holyfield but I don’t remember). He said to me “I went to a boxing match and a hockey game broke out.” He’s funny my brother.
I’m watching an election for commander and chief and a football game is breaking out. In my opinion at least one of the canidates needs step back fifteen yards. I am a big believer in the democratic process and I sort of have to be in the way America interrupts the democratic process. As a people it makes us look mean spirited that one contender is openly a misogynist, Bigot and xenophobe. By openly I mean it’s not allegations being denied, he says these things as his strategy. Even more so he has a lot of support for his positions.
I won’t be crestfallen or angry if the cubs lose game seven, it’s been a great season and a great series. I’m also not going to threaten to leave the country after the election (though my plan has been to move out of the country for years, I still have affairs to manage here. My reasons have mostly to do with nationalized medicine. Neither candidate is proposing that for the US.). I don’t see either candidate as being very effective or as getting a second term. Both the Cubs and the Indians, however, have a good shot at a pennant in the next four years.
