Taking a Deep Breath in Everyday Ramblings

We had a big wet windstorm yesterday afternoon and I managed to get out a bit before the worst of it hit to take this shot. It was kind of like a free day because we were planning a hike and dine up on Mt. Hood that was canceled because of the high wind warnings.
For gosh sakes we even had a few tornadoes rip through a couple of our coastal towns on Friday. Luckily not the town we are heading off to week after next.
And rain? We have had an inch and a half above average for the whole month of October. This is being a very abbreviated fall foliage year. Yesterday yellow leaves were blowing up and then down the street. My patio is carpeted with soggy leaves. And I have ants in the house.
The Board and the senior ministers are meeting at the church on November 3rd to talk about the direction we are heading in (and that includes the ability of my yoga class to continue in the building). So I am going to write an open letter to the friendly board Secretary who was an enthusiastic student last year.
And hope for the best.
They let one of our ministers go, the one with the least seniority. She is putting a brave face on it but it is hard.
I did have an additional chat with the Adult Programs coordinator about things and she allayed my insecurities a bit about the class in general. So this is more of a practical matter of finding a space to teach nearby that I can afford so that I can keep the class on a donation or low cost basis.
I have also decided that I need to teach another class each week.
Something close in that draws on a community of students that I can teach a slightly more challenging class to. I love teaching at the level I do and I know the students benefit. I can hear it in their breathing and in their voices at the end of class but I also want to teach some of the cool things that yoga can do for bodies that have a little more range of motion available to them.
It will be something else to work on here to see if I can get that set-up for January or if not then the spring.
I also am determined not to wait until April to get my taxes done this year. And I need help with all the dental outlay and the teaching income. The procrastination I do is painful and I would really prefer not to do that any more. This is all a movement towards what my life will be after I retire from my job at the Med School in 2020.
If yesterday is any indication I will be a very happy camper then. I did not consume any news at all (other than storm warnings) and listened to classical music all day. I finished a “Bruno” mystery and did and watched yoga classes. I did laundry and puttered and cooked. I talked to Kes and Most Honorable on a video call. I took a bath.
Oh and Tana French has a new Murder Squad mystery out I started listening to.
I wasn’t as tired as I was the weekend before so that made it even more enjoyable.
Other than needing to venture out to the grocery today is wide open and I am looking forward to that. I have lots and lots of interests to engage…
