I was thinking about something and my computer shut down. It’s been happening too frequently, though, most times it’s some kind of fucking upgrade or other. I stumbled across a can of air so I took the side panel off and blow a bunch of dust around. When I went to put it back on I felt a dull buzz in my screw screwing paw. Haven’t figured out where, yet, but there’s a short somewhere. I’m keeping the panel off for now, um, by somewhere I mean in the case.
What I was thinking about is or are the most frequent word associated with this presidential election. No, not a pejorative term for genitals, though those are getting tossed around a lot, not the word criminal, though god knows that’s getting tossed around a lot too (makes you wonder what these folks think guys in prison are actually doing time for, don’t they watch movies?). No, the scariest word is WikiLeaks.
I don’t have any specific problem with any given WikiLeaks and I like the idea of transparency, and one of the scarier things is not even WikiLeaks fault; the media keeps referring to WikiLeaks as a source, that’s like blaming a cute cat for YouTube. There is, unfortunately, a certain logic to the media referencing WikiLeaks as if to say “We’ve lost credulity, but these guys haven’t”. I’m using ‘as if’ to be polite, it’s exactly what they’re saying; the news is suspect but WikiLeaks is pristine.

Again, I’m not accusing WikiLeaks of any malfeasance, but they’ve been the source of many a rise and dip in the polls. I’ve yet to hear anyone question the veracity of WikiLeaks. If that doesn’t disturb you … yeah, sorry, I’m just shaking my head. Transparency is one thing, fear and loathing another. I’d prefer that those two didn’t meet in the middle to shake hands. I’m just saying, WikiLeaks has officially become a force to be reckoned with. And, where to now? Once you are a king maker where does your skill set lead you? Once you’ve raked rarified dirt you either get a new gig or you start raking common dirt. Y’all know the patriot act is still in force right?

The latest WikiLeaks damage was done to Trump, and, honestly, anyone who didn’t already suspect that shit from him is going to vote for him anyhow. We really don’t have a very high standard of behavior for … anyone, but particularly politicians. I don’t think it’d fly well to say WikiLeaks took something out of context or is just plain wrong. In the face of proof of assholery the percentage that jumped ship and the percentage that didn’t speaks volumes, but not volumes of stuff you didn’t already know about your peers, neighbors, voting public. You also have known about WikiLeaks forever too; have you ever questioned them? Just saying. It’s scary if you think about it. Voting wise, statistically, y’all, like me, probably are still going the way you were going when you knew for sure who the candidates were.

If I find myself bored enough to follow the circus I think I’ll look into state and local candidates. Like most of you I haven’t a clue who half these motherfuckers are. Like WikiLeaks I have no cause to question my own judgment, but there is always cause to have some doubt. You know anybody who is flawless or thinks they are? Douchebags. Confidence is a fine trait, my often comes from exploring the options, I try very hard not be think I’m right because I’m me and I’m right often. Huh. I just mean I’d like to cast as much doubt on WikiLeaks as do on myself. This is from someone for whom WikiLeaks influence has worked in favor of my candidate. You’d think Trump could alienate people without any outside help.

Think for a moment how long they’ve been sitting on Trump shit. Way longer than he’s been a public figure, that is a figure running for public office. Transparency as a concept is specific to government. Those guys and gals have been sitting on old dirt of a private citizen. Anything? A little scary? Ok then.
