Vilifying the Hamburglar
that’s blaming the victim
don’t put him in a jail just yet
get the man some clean burger wrappers
get the man into a twelve-step
Ronald, you know the levels
of sugars and salts and fats
in the foodstuffs that you sell
were constructed to be just as
habit forming as cigarettes and crack
you can’t hang this poor guy out to dry
just call the cops then turn your back
just because they aren’t elicit, Ronald
doesn’t you aren’t complicit
get the dude some help.

Before you am ridiculing Cookie Monster
for lifelong crippling dessert addiction
ask youself, who am Real monster
and who am suffering from
real chemical affliction?
Answer am you.
Real monster am you.

Sonny isn’t coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs
what is this, nineteen-fifty-three?
Sonny has a goddamn mental illness
“Coo-coo” Jesus Christ are you five?
Grow up and use less hurtful phrases
what you call “being politically correct”
I call “being humane and having a soul”
what you call “being politically correct”
I call “not being a fucking asshole”
Sonny is mentally ill
it just so happens that
Sonny is mentally ill
for Cocoa Puffs.
