Tomorrow we head home, had a great week, only one day was so so weather-wise. Am having trouble posting pix again as the feature I used before seems to have disappeared! Anyway, if you are friends w/me on FB, you can catch some pix there.

Someone had asked me to describe the banks, I will give my impressions of the banks.

The outer banks are barrier islands of NC and are made up of beach towns. North to south they are

Corolla/currituck
Duck
Southern shores
Kitty hawk
Kill devil hills—where the wright brothers did all their flights but kitty hawk gets the credit because the ran to the nearest station to report from. That site is now a restaurant, the black pelican.
Nags head

Rodanthe—and yes, I have seen the house that the movie “nights in rodanthe” was modeled on. I think you can rent it, it had to be moved from its original location because of beach erosion and now it is not as impressive because it is in the middle of a development.
Salvo
Avon
Buxton
Frisco
Cape Hatteras/hatteras

Ferry over ocracoke–another lighthouse

There are actually five along the banks

Corolla
Bodie island–halfway between nags head and rodanthe.
Cape hatteras
Ocracoke
Cape lookout

I have seen all but the last lighthouse.

When I first went down, you could still see wild horses along the road from duck up to corolla and there were caution signs, now the bourses are contained to Corolla and north.

The banks are beautiful but have really gotten built up, huge places that could host 30 people.

This is just a quick overview of my view of the banks.
