worry in poetry

worry is just regret while it’s still in the chrysalis
waiting for its terrible wings to finally burst through
shred the cocoon and emerge fully empowered to ruin you

worry is tensing up in a flinch
so fully so deeply so completely
that the damage it will leave behind
is worse than if a punch had landed

worry is the opposite of action
inaction is not action’s twin
inaction’s just the lack of it
worry is the actual counter-force
pressing against getting things done
pressing against having any fun
pressing against shining like the sun
pressing against the lonely only one

worry is a selfish bastard
worry wants you all to itself
safe and sound without changing
motionless up on the shelf

defeat worry if you can
it’s an ugly little man
