I am passionately sick of seeing the same families and same names come up on charges around here. Considering how few people live in this county… I’m starting to think that we have about 10 entire families that are dedicated to causing mischief.
Earliest Story from My Time Here: ONE drug bust = LOADS of crossover. The male defendant (M1) was having an affair with Female Defendant (F1) while they were watching the children that M1 had with another female defendant (F2). Also F1’s children were there, but both Baby Daddies are in prison in other parts of the state. Turns out that one of F1’s boyfriends ratted on the house (we’ll call him M2). BUT F1 only got a slap on the wrist because she’s also having an affair with the Sheriff. HOWEVER… F1’s kids now become juvenile cases; M1’s kids become juvenile cases, M1 and F2 have drug charges pending; and the witness M2 has a mental health hearing. A few months later, F1, F2, and M1 all have more charges pending against them. (One Drug Bust).
Then we have TODAY. Where individuals and families all overlap together. We have a man (whose family is always in trouble). We’ll call him MZ, Z being the family distinction. Well, MZ’s ex-aunt FZ has charges relating to methamphetamine usage and driving. Meanwhile, MZ gets middle-of-the-day drunk and exposes himself to a woman and her child. MZ runs off. My officers investigate and turns out.... MZ was hanging out with a kid that is so constantly in trouble, I’ve had 3 cases with him already and he’s been pushed to Adult Court. So we’ll call him M3. MZ and M3 were hanging out when MZ exposed himself and they all ran back to a friend’s house. Turns out that friend is the sister of M2 (from above). She also has mental health hearings and juvenile cases pending.
I’m keeping a list. The names and individuals that are always in trouble. “Always” in this case meaning multiple charges, multiple cases, and/or multiple courts overlapping at once. And because of how this county doesn’t care and doesn’t deal with its criminal issues.... while it is entirely true that this county would see a SIGNIFICANT reduction in crime if it actually punished these people that get in trouble (every week) but we’ll never do that. We don’t have the resources. Hell, several of them are women and we don’t have the facilities to house female prisoners. Just. Insane.
