so on sat. the 30th.of last month. was my grandmother’s memorial service thing as i’ve mentioned.
copied from a recent entry:
‘and on sat. was my grandmother’s memorial sevice thing. then we my sister dad the cousins i went to uh the cabin. for the ashes thing yeah ashes are weird. and then. we came back to my mom’s where we had dinner. my uncle and his son joined us later. so i didn’t go out that day. i mean by myself. ‘
uh...........so.............I got up at around 8:20 i think that day. We got ready. My dad, sister, uncle and aunt were already at the park getting ready. the park’s in Littleton where untill the last um like 5 yrs. my grandmother [my dad’s mom] lived.then she moved near downtown. oh yeah so my dad grew up in littleton. So my mom & I went and picked up my grandfather who.is my mom’s dad. The other one Truman [my dad’s dad] passed almost 3.5 yrs. ago. he passed in april 5 yrs. ago. he and my dad’s mom [carol the one from littleton] had been married for 40 yrs. and then divorced.
so anyway. We had trouble figuring out how to get in, to the parking um lot. After a few mins. we figured it out. um so we got out and went to this little.covered area w/ 3, 4 picnic tables like on the side. People were there a few who i knew. John Eady. When my sister & I were growing up he took photos of our family. i think my grandmother knew him somehow. he and my dad grew up together. and his apparent ex wife anne clare. [claire?]. She’s so much smaller than I am. or maybe she was always that height i just.got older.and taller. She is from Texas but i think she was born in sweden.maybe. I’ve always liked her she’s really warm and caring. she has a distinctive voice. yeah I didn’t know they got divorced untill John said ‘my ex wife will be here’ or something. john’s not an overly nice guy. he wasn’tmean or anything. evidently he was I think in a car accident some time ago which.changed his behaviour. from what my mom told me. and i don’t think i want to know more. I don’t know if that’s why the Eadys got divorced or not I don’t know a whole lot of details about that. he might be from New England. and I only think that bc she was telling a story about one time they were over at my grandmother’s for dinner and in uh New England they call it a sound w/e ‘it’ is. and in Texas they call it a bay i guess.maybe. uh but yeah. she’s a cool lady she’s one of those hippie types. She’s spiritual too one time she gave me a crystal she’d had. Their sons didn’t come Kevin and Shawn. One’s in a band and one’s an attorney. bc my grandmother knew them i knew them. They’re nice people and I’ve always thought of them as my cousins even they’re not........in that sense. but we grew up seeing them so. oh so John still takes photos but photos of architecture.
So talking about cousins my actual cousins were there. so my Uncle Ty the one who talks a lot. he’s my dad’s younger brother. and their sister my Aunt Helen who’s the youngest of them. well her daughters are Margaret and Sarah which therefore would make them.my cousins of course. so yeah. oh and Helen’s ex husband Don came. he’s this big intimidating [well i don’t think he’s intimidating but maybe some people would] guy but he’s super nice. he’s a Quaker and i think he’s from New England.
My dad and his siblings were born here [CO] but then at some point uh.......ty moved to CA and Helen moved to Vermont. [yeah 5 yrs. ago this summer when my mom & I were at the airport we were going to london and then denmark. ok so i must’ve turned 23 in denmark or maybe 24 cause i’m 28 now and my birthday’s next wl. um but yeah]. we all had some meal at the airport and Helen told us they were seperating. i don’t know when they actually got divorced.
Same w/ Ty the guy who talks a lot and his ex wife Lynne. I hadn’t seen her in at least 5 yrs. and it was good to see her. oh so she came. She’s always been nice quiet. oh so she.works w/ monkeys. oh so at the endof the service when it was all over and just the cousins and aunts/uncles were there their son Peter came. he is one tall guy 6‘2 maybe. and i’m 5‘4. i feel short standing next to evan who’s 5‘10 so. yeah Peter wow.
so um I met Ty’s friends from HS Frank and Tina. they were. well i pictured Tina as a brunette when Ty talked about her. er like over time he talked about her and whenever he did........yeah. but she’s blonde. and i told them ‘yeah my uncle talks about you’.
um i met Linda B. which evidently she’d been a friend of my grandmother’s. there was something about her i didn’t like.
oh and my grandmother’s neighbors like 3 of them were there. Betty Carr was there and she’s always been a nice lady. of course i’m taller than some of them now. And uh Jackie [the lady] and Macy [jackie’s husband] were there too. they still look like they’re 70. Macy evidently does pottery er makes it i mean. and a guy who worked at town hall where my grandmother would take us.
and........oh the girls my grandmother taught dance too except they’re ladies now. yeah she taught dance for about 40 yrs. in Littleton. 2 sisters Poli and Susie. and the macdonalds 2 of them. who, did not take dance w/ my grandmother far as i know.
Ok so. like uh 10 yrs. ago now my grandmother married John Macdonald. who, had been their insurance salesman growing up. Helen remembers him from that time. well he, left us almost a yr. ago last Dec. 5th. So his son John came. and I told him ‘your dad was always nice’. and he was. John [my grandmother’s husband] was such a nice guy. really warm and inviting. he seemed like the kindof guy everybody loved like Pat. oh Pat........ anyway John [carol’s husband carol being my grandmother] and his ex wife Margie [who i’ve never met but have seen a photo of[ had........uh..........6 children. [well they’re irish so].er of irish heritage i mean. and John at the service he came w/ his uncle Ralph or was it Phil. nice guy that john. well the both of them really. and Maureen who didn’t come. she’s warm.
uh so there were other people there who i didn’t meet. There were about 30 - 50 people i think. oh and there was food. We had 4 big containers of lemonade the simply lemonade kidn. ok so bottles there was coffee from peet’s. i don’t like coffee but i love the smell of their coffee place there’s one by my mom’s.
the food we had. on each table except for the one the beverages were on there were big platters. oh on those platter things was fruit. and there were also um these giant croissants. on the small plates they were even bigger. they were good. i had 1 of those and a bit of fruit. and some lemonade.
more on the actual service and the display boards coming up!
