I think I just witnessed child abuse. in Whey and Sonic Screwdrivers.

I was waiting patiently behind a woman at a Subway. She seemed distracted while ordering, perhaps because of the earbuds she had in her ears. Then her little kid just happens to run by, and accidentally yanks them out.

She said audibly, “Fuck.”

And then slaps her kid on the shoulder, followed by a scolding.

I know parents get frustrated and angry, but there was something very wrong with what I witnessed. Color me so confused when, as they were leaving, she scolded her kid for not saying “thank you”. Really hope the kid doesn’t need too much therapy.

That's awful. Too many people are more concerned with their phones and devices so much.

I would never strike my child (and never have). My son is still polite and respectful.

But slapping your child for that reads any reason.

I want to apologize if my spelling and grammar are incorrect but I was in a car accident Friday afternoon and I am a bit unfocused.

But the small of it is I see what you described as child abuse and no thanks to the system, I'm pretty sure even saying anything would do anything.

We once saw a woman beating her child with keys on one of those neck things. I confronted the woman (not usually in my nature but I was abused as a child and by my first husband) and then tell the WalMart associates. They said they couldn't do anything.

Oh what a world 🙄

Parenting done wrong.

Why would you even be WEARING earbuds while you're out doing something with your kid? Never mind hitting them. :-(

Having been on the other side of the counter, part of me goes into semi-retail voice when I'm being served. Well, maybe not retail voice, but I make a point to be overly kind and patient. I've had waiters and waitresses totally drop their guard and start bitching - so much nicer to see them relax.
