Better Better Better in Everyday Ramblings

Love the light here, just a block up from my place at the park. We’ve had cooler mornings and lovely warm afternoons with a breeze.

Yesterday I was in the office with St. Joe and I was able to be fully present for him in terms of his recent experiences and I am so glad for that. Holding an awareness that my thinking was skewed because I was feeling vulnerable and needy helped.

Something else that astonished Ms. Totally Burned Out on This Job here was that I focused on this thing that was bugging me, a rogue record from my predecessor from 2002 and I was able to find a fix for it. We don’t need to see it on our reports anymore and go, oh yeah, there is that…

Because I actually enjoyed doing this I am taking this as clear evidence that at least right in this moment I can be engaged and get some small satisfaction from work. And as I am basically stuck in this job for four more years this is good news!

I am feeling a bit more energetic and this afternoon I have my two-week post op appointment. My guess is that he will just clean up my stitches and leave them in for another couple of weeks. After I get them out I’ll have a break for a couple of months to heal. Yippee!

Class last night was all about our side bodies and focusing on breathing into the space between our side ribs. I was thrilled to have an accessible wall to use as a prop and it was a congenial group and they became deeply relaxed. One of my newer students was a little embarrassed that she fell asleep at the end but I always find that a good sign.

This is material I haven’t taught in awhile and I was glad I did. What else is nifty for me as a teacher is that all four students I had in this always smaller class were repeats from Monday. What this means is that these folks are experiencing the benefits of practice enough to make the effort to show up twice a week on their own.

Sharing the tools of these practices so folks feel the benefit in their bodies, experience the benefits is so much why I do this thing.

The other evening Kes missed the last step coming down their stairway into their finished basement and twisted her ankle badly. She is hobbled and miserable. I feel so sad for her going through this and wish we lived closer so I could entertain her and wait on her. She asked if I could send Diego down to comfort her.

He is certainly ready, willing to pack his kitty knapsack with a kick toy and a pong ball and head off but we are not sure their Jack would approve. Diego adores Kes.

I purchased train tickets to go down and spend the day Sunday with them. Most Honorable has a milestone birthday next Tuesday so we will celebrate that a little too.

Our big excitement though it is the prospect of a new feline addition to our family.

In a few weeks after they spend an idyllic week up at Galliano Island, a magical place with great family memories for Most Honorable they are getting a girl kitten! Squee!

She will be Jack’s kitten. He is still only 5 and has good energy and we so hope they are able to develop an inseparable bond. You never know about these things but it is worth a shot. She will be loved and spoiled no matter what.

It is nice to have things to look forward to.
