Your Book Is Nice, But... in meh...

So I’ve started on a new book. Might as well get it in while I can before school starts.
The title is Realm of Goryo by Dane Kroll. About larger than life animals, a new species that seem to resemble gorillas and tigers and armadillos. For imagination sake, I’m going to say that Goryo (gorilla) looks like the “Great Ape” from Dragonball Z and Byakko (tiger) looks like Battle Cat from He-Man.
The story is okay but the not okay part about it is that the author tends to not use contraction words nor does he use joiners for his sentences. Something that can flow easily like, “I went to the store and picked up some milk from Aisle 12” ends up like “I went to the store. I walked down to aisle 12. I picked up the milk.”
I’m reading this and wondering, “What kind of middle school presentation paper is this??” I’m having a hard time getting into it because damn I’m re-writing this in my head as I read along. I reads amateurish and even if he is, it doesn’t have to SOUND that way.
But that’s just me noticing everything because I’m such a perfectionist. LOL
So for the past two weeks, I’ve had birthdays of nieces and a nephew, 3 of which all were born with in the same week of each other. My great-niece will be one soon and her birthday party will be this weekend, along with my nephew’s party, along with a festival I want to go to, and wouldn’t you know it, not a dime to spend anywhere in between. Child support hasn’t been paid and I’m running out of food at home. I have a few dollars on my credit card. It’s overwhelming.
I want to ask if, seeing as how there are only like 5 people in my department that are full time, I can pick up an extra shift maybe on Saturday. Wednesdays aren’t really an extra shift more so than me coming in earlier but since I don’t work weekends, that would be extra. From 7-1. I could use some more training to make sure I have the procedure down. Don’t know when they’d want me to start either. I’ve been trained at the ticket counter, but haven’t put it to the test yet. The email says willing to be trained so that will be my refresher course.
My daughter was wondering what was going on in my head yesterday. I sat in my spot with a bottle of white zinfandel that actually gave her some of, since she’s of age, and started thinking about the low amount of food in the house and the fact that I have more money going out than coming in. I mean when it was two of us it was at the minimum manageable, but with 4 of us again, it’s quite a burden. So she asked what was wrong with me. I said, “I have more money going out than I have coming in. I have to make things work for now you know, and I don’t know how to do that just yet. I think about how to get ahead all the time. Now would be one of those times.” I swirled the little bit of wine in my bottle, looked at her and it then took the bottle to the head.
But when you’re in charge, you always think and have thoughts.
I read with the grandkid, and we talked and played. He was tired and ready to lay down because he didn’t have his nap. He doesn’t start school until next week.
Went to vote and I very well couldn’t vote for Chief Wana Dubie. Look that shit up and have a giggle. Real person, real story. I didn’t vote for him because I thought it was a joke. I probably should have voted for him. LMAO
Keep it breezy and beautiful, people.
Kindest regards,
Sister
