Improvements? I Do Hope So in Everyday Ramblings

Starting tomorrow “my” beloved track is going to be closed for a month or two so they can make the “improvements” that Under Armor is paying for. It is taking forever for them to finish the improvements on the building that they are going to use for offices that is not in this picture. That big building that looms over the track is a very expensive retirement community.

That field in the middle is going to be taken out and artificial turf will replace it. The track itself will be resurfaced and widened slightly. There will be new lighting and additional parking.

This morning in an overly ambitious move on my part (I went over there to say goodbye) I headed round and up that path in the back you can see here that attaches to the upper part of the park which is off to the left and not visible. They are planning to leave that alone so I will be able to access that (by a shortcut trail) and walk the rough uneven track full of bark bits with a grassy field in the middle the swallows feed on this time of year.

(If I wear sandals my feet get super dirty when I do that and I need to remember I have to wash them before I la de da head off to class. I noticed in class a few weeks back that my feet were dirty. Eek!)

Anyway this morning in a quest to get my activity in early I walked over the big hill to the grocery. It is about a four-mile trek with about 4,800 ft. of elevation gain.

Just like last night in my cute little dress doing hard core energetic swing dancing to the 12 piece orchestra at the birthday party, this morning I realized, hey, I am too tired for this!

I am grateful I can forget that I had major invasive dental surgery ten days ago but my body is not letting me off the hook so easily.

I wouldn’t say the party was fun, although folks looked as if they were having fun and the star of the show, our amazing friend F. was clearly enjoying herself. My whole former Women’s Circle was there and it was sweet that they were encouraging me to come back. There were a lot of people there, including folks from The Trail Club.

Putting my social anxiety aside for a little while I admit to participating in a Hokey Pokey dance and umm, a Conga Line. Wow. I really do adore F, and I admire her and if her peeps want to do a Conga Line…

Her kids and one of her grandkids came up for the party from California and it was amazing to see them together. I have known her for something like 17 years and none of us had actually met her children. They all have the same mouth.

The dress was perfect and I will get good wear out of it…

But I am t-i-r-e-d.

Good thing I can work from home tomorrow and don’t have any meetings.

But now I have to go because my alarm clock cats are telling me it is dinner time!
