Usually... in meh...

…between the hours of 9 & 11, I’m trying to find something to keep me entertained before I turn my radio back on. Haven’t gotten many calls this morning. Part of me is ok just being here and getting paid to answer the phone even if no one is calling much, but otherwise I get bored. I try not to be obviously playing games or on Facebook or Twitter. I have a book but as soon as I pick that up the phone will ring non-stop. Which is good I guess, but then I’m irritated because they are distracting me from my book. LOL

My friend, author Vince Churchill has a new book out called Midnight Eternal. I just finished reading it yesterday morning. It was entertaining as all his books are for me. People REALLY liked The Butcher Bride. Look him up on Amazon. I have all of his books and they are all signed. Vince writes science fiction/horror type with…I would say erotica, but he’s a freak so I will say soft core porn. Not everyone can handle it, but ever since I met him and started reading his work, it’s been a crazy ride. His first book The Dead Shall Inherit The Earth is a space set zombie story. I LOVED it. The next, The Blackest Heart and it’s sequel Pandora. WOW. He told me at the Contamination Festival that there will be another book on Pandora, but it’s going to have these pictures like in Hyde (soft core porn/suspense) and I was shown some of the pictures. Dark and beautiful. I don’t have a twisted soul, but when I see deep hues of purples with contrasts of white and black and red, there is something that appeals to that side. Anyway. The Butcher Bride is horror/revenge/ghost type shit. This has a cult following and was going to be made into a movie by the guys that made the Saws movies, but something got a bit screwed up and it’s been set aside. Goodnight, My Sweet, he says was more PG-13 basically because there was no sex in it. But, it was an end-of-the-world love story that made me hear Chris Gaines/Garth Brooks “Heaven Knows”. The ending ain’t right. LOL Goodnight, My Sweet was special to me because I was one of a few people he trusted to read it and mark any changes. So I read it and gave my critiques. And when I read it, he did change some of it, but particularly the racial-ness of it. The main character was basically him. He is black and his wife is white and his “co-star” in the book is of Asian decent I think. So every time he and the co-star came across someone, he was called the N-word. It came up once from an unexpected source and it cracked me up so much I told him about it while I was reading it. LOL Midnight Eternal is like a superhero-antihero like Batman who has a plan. I never expected the twist this story took on. If you happen to buy it, the only thing I will give up is that the antagonist is always naked and his meat is just there for everyone to behold. It’s not a big part of the story, but I had to ask Vince, “Dude so does this guy wear shredded Hulk pants or is he always just balls out??” We had a great laugh about that.

Oh. What I do to fill my time before I turn on the radio again. I read news stories. I guess I am sort of a news junkie, but I’ve been finding that I want to just turn it all off these days. I want to be connected and be in the know. I’m not politically savvy, but I want to at least have part of a clue. The very sound of Donald Trump’s condescending voice makes me angry. I was listening to the radio and he was on the air for too long and I shut it off. I will say though, I watched the speeches last night and I was sucked in. Khizr Kahn made me stand in front of the tv and applaud him. I laughed and applauded the preacher who had the DNC sounding like a Sunday at my dad’s church. LOL When I watched the movie before Hillary was brought out, I was really moved to tears. To listen to her speak, made me applaud and it evoked emotion from me. I don’t even see this anymore in the light of her being the first woman president. I don’t really know how I see it, but to watch the convention (and might I add that watching Joe Biden the other night tickled THEE SHIT out of me! He would kick Trump’s ass in a good old fashioned Brooklyn Brawl match. LMAO) after being a supporter of Bernie…at first it was, “Oh well, anything else is better than Trump…” now it’s more like maybe, just maybe we will get somewhere this time. I was hoping that she’d ask Bernie to be her VP, but now I hope she would at least have him in her cabinet or at least make sure he is a staunch ally.

After it was all over, I went to the bar on the corner and talking to the homey/bar back/cook Echo who missed me on Tuesday because I didn’t come to karaoke. He did a new song and everything. I bypassed Bar Olympics (they had Jenga-I should have gone upstairs) and ordered onion rings (my favorite) and Red Stag & Pepsi and got into a conversation about music with an older gentleman. It quickly transferred to politics and where he grew up (not far from where I grew up but it had changed radically by that time) and then about the Affordable Healthcare Act, also known as “ObamaCare”. He went on to say that he has watched his retirement money go down and down all because he’s paying $70 a month for it. I’m thinking he’s talking about he’s using it and his premium per month is going up, but apparently he says that he is being taxed for it. Shouldn’t I be taxed for it too even though I’m not using it if that’s the case? I have insurance through work, so of all the taxes coming out of my check, is that included? I asked him, “Aren’t you, at 67, eligible for Medicare?” because otherwise, your insurance cost are adjusted just like mine. Difference is, sometimes I get a raise and at a fixed rate on your retirement money he doesn’t. That whole part of the conversation threw me. I guess I didn’t worry about it much since I know I’m covered and I have my kids covered. Now, I’m curious.

I have decided to make my nails shorter again. Middle finger nail just broke off and my thumb nails look ugly.

All this typing has helped me wile away the hours. Nice. Had a conversation about part of my family history with a coworker/friend. he realized we hadn’t talked much in a while. Came in and asked how everything was.

And with that, I will bid you all adieu. I hope BettyLady is here at today. She skipped out on Wednesday. She’s in her mid to late 70’s and is the book keeper of the former big boss man. I love her so much. We have lunch Every Wednesday and Friday. She and I are really close. I talk to her about pretty much every thing like my own mom or grandmother. She is awesome.

Then the next corpse flower we have on display will soon bloom in it’s entirety of stinkiness between now and the 8th of August. We have I think like 3 of them and last week or the week before last, it bloomed over the weekend. I probably got sporadic calls during the week wondering if it’s still in bloom and if we are open late for people to see it. We open late if it blooms late because people are just that crazy to come here at 1 in the morning to see and smell this putrid freak of nature. When I got to work on that following Monday, I had no clue that it had bloomed.

Daughter just called me to tell me that grandkid got his shots and that when they went to give him a shot in the other arm he said, “NO! Not the other one!!” LMAO I love my baby so much. That was funny! My son left the house so they are stopping by the gig to get the key to the house. He is upset but that’s okay. He’s starting kindergarten in two weeks. My baby’s growing up!

Maybe I’ll take daughter to karaoke tomorrow. We shall see.

Until then, take care of each other and yourselves.

Kindest regards,
Sister.
