For over a decade, I have placed value in being more than just self-focused. If we are to live in a state, we should know what is going on in that state. If we are to live in a nation, we should know what is going on in that nation. If we are to live in a continent, we should know what is going on in that continent. And if we are to live in a world, we should know what is going on in that world. For that reason; I have long listened to news radio, read the BBC, and read the NHK English Translation. Because I want to know what is going on and I need to know how the world is progressing. But lately?
Really? Another ISIS Attack? This time attackers slit a priest’s throat IN HIS CHURCH in the North of France. Fuck. And while there was a massive stabbing in Japan… the ISIS thing bothers me more. The Japanese Story (as much as I love Japan, or at least the idea of Japan since I’ve never been there) fits my understanding of human nature. The attacker was a disgruntled, alleged mentally ill former employee of the area he attacked. People reacting violently to bad news… it is tragic, but it certainly makes sense from a Human Behavior perspective. This… dare I say, out of control… ISIS issue? That goes so far beyond my understanding of Human Behavior. It is so easy to start discussing “Crusades” and make this about Muslims at large… but all logical analyses point out why that is incorrect. These Muslim Terrorists typically kill as many or more Muslims as non-Muslims. So putting this on all Muslims is like seeing an abused women and putting that on all Men. First of all, it is an offensive over-simplification. Second of all, it takes the appropriate blame and shame off of the smaller group and tries to share it with a larger group. This is a specific group of people within the Muslim faith… IS, honestly, doesn’t even have a country or nation… so it is a group of violent, angry people perverting their faith for their own ends.
And I am so sick of it. I am not a Trump Supporter. But I’m starting to think that we need to find a way of actively punishing countries that aren’t going out of their way to stem the tide of IS. And… dangerous as the idea is… if there are countries that are openly friendly with IS.... we may want to begin to consider the possibility of another war. Because how can you look at the world, see what is going on, and then (as a Country) say “Yeah. We want to give guns, money, and safe passage to those people!” There just… there has to be more that we can do to stop this.

If we're going to punish countries for not actively trying to deter/defeat ISIS I think the U.S will need to be in line for the punishment too. Seems like we're not taking it very seriously, and probably won't until more tragedy occurs on our own soil. We see it happening elsewhere but it's not a 'serious' problem until it starts happening here on a larger scale.

Sad but true. I may be wrong; but it seems to be a portion of the Anti-Globalization, Anti-One World Government fear. "Why should we care about things that don't affect us?" mentality bothers me sometimes.

I think you're exactly right. It's not discrimination, it's common sense.
Another thing that would go a long way towards only targeting the homicidal Muslims and not ALL of them, would be for the peaceful Muslims to speak up more. They should be at the forefront of protests against these attacks, they should be more vocal, not by insisting that Islam is a religion of peace when we just saw people blown up, but by condemning ISIS. It's the (sometimes subtle) difference between saying "We're not all thieves" and "Punish Sue- she's the one who stole the cookie". The focus as it is now, seems to be on how all Muslims aren't bad, instead of how this particular groups of Muslims IS bad. That needs to change if anything else can.

it might not even be a real ISIS attack. I think part of the ISIS model is just to claim any attack that fits with their MO even when they had no direct involvement in them. Helps spread their message.
But its also very terrifying if it is an actual isis attack. i work for the catholic church so its scary to think that people just want to come in and kill priests. And at the moment WYD is happening in Poland, so i really hope that ISIS don't do anything there.

Y'know, I've had that thought about some of these attacks as well. That, in order to look more organized and more global, ISIS takes credit for anything they can.
Praying for all churches and all faiths everywhere. As a species, we should REALLY be beyond killing each other for religious reasons.

I would not be sad if we blew ISIS off the face of the Earth ( sorry about the collateral damage but we did not let that stop us in Hiroshima). I truly think The Saudis protect and abet them. And we kiss up to the Saudi's : why I really do not understand because we don't need their oil now.

I agree. We play nice with so many places that we can actively prove have funded and aided those who try to destroy us and our allies. I get that the political game is nuanced but sometimes you just have to stand up and say "Stop it!"

There has to bea Day of Reckoning eventually and I suspect it's going to come down to them or us .
