Trust your brakes
I mean, of course, check your brakes first
make sure that they’re worth trusting
make sure they’re in working order
but if you know your brakes are good
trust your brakes
they are stronger than you think
they will most likely get you home

Life is very very hard
life is very very short
but you’re only going to make it
harder on yourself
shorter on yourself
if you think that you have to be perfect
if you think you have no margin for error
you’ll always be too careful
guaranteeing that you’ll fail

There are tolerances
there are takebacks
there are near misses
there are second and third chances
you can miss a few steps and
still have lovely dances

I almost hit that
Amish horsecart that just
came out of nowhere
but I didn’t
I hit the brakes and
I swerved into the curb and
everything is fine
everything is fine most of the time
if you just don’t over think and
just don’t shut down your mind and
your heart has what it takes
to maybe trust your brakes
