I don’t experience FOMO by any means. Well, I didn’t until I got to Up North County. And then, FOMO isn’t wistfully staring at Social Media hoping my life could be like other people’s. FOMO now is more “I wish I was somewhere, anywhere, that wasn’t close to being the emptiest county in the state.” But still… I’m not the guy that looks at Social Media and thinks “Everyone is living a perfect life but me.” But I have seen a trend that… baffles and confounds me.

Whether Prosebox or Facebook… people are… doing things. Like… going to movies, playing video games, reading books, going on dates, swimming, going to the beach, seeing concerts.... and I’ll confess… a significant FOMO. And maybe that is partially influenced by how empty my new living situation is but… I do feel a certain case of… why can’t that be me? And more importantly… can that be me again? If it ever was me. Can I be the guy that has time and availability to go see a movie, play video games, read books, etc?

And yeah… I do have to blame the living situation. Because “go see a movie” now means a commute. So a 2 or 3 hour film just became a 4 hour ordeal. Playing video games is a possibility… once or twice a week… if Wife isn’t home. And the other stuff? Forget about it. So… yeah. I suppose I am experiencing some significant FOMO lately.
