Thinking through some suggestions Charis left privately on my last post I tried a few things with the camera on my phone and I believe I have solved the sizing problem for posting here. I was thinking in a box, duh and as soon as I stepped out of it, metaphorically…
After a spectacular year last year for iris this year was not so good. So imagine my surprise and delight when this not well represented but gorgeous yellow one started to bloom across the street last week! Happy girl.
Because of the holiday and taking a vacation day tomorrow I am not working overtime this week. Again, happy girl. But much to my frustration I spent almost a half hour (with cheerful feline assistance) this morning looking for my glasses. Grrr.
We found lots of toys. :)
And eventually, huge relief, I did find my glasses intact in a box on the floor in the front room. Last night I was cleaning…again with feline assistance… and I had just placed them in a toy box for a moment in the midst of something and… sigh… the older brain is a challenge to get used to isn’t it?
Does anyone listen to Invisibilia?
I was listening to this episode the other day and thinking about the Gene book and the low income housing building going up on the next block with the 8 mental health units in it.
This episode made me cry. I was so moved by the stories of folks with serious mental illness folded into their community and treated with engagement, acceptance and respect that I believe it has completely changed my attitude towards the building.
Well, that and the folks with the schizophrenic son, I chatted with on the street a while back.
I live in an apartment, a very spacious apartment, in a complex that is a cluster of buildings with landscaping on a hill with each building having 5 or 6 units.
A few days ago, in one of the other buildings in one of the upper apartments a pipe burst and two apartments were flooded. Most of the stuff in the apartments was destroyed. The apartments will have to be gutted. These people lost their homes.
Wow.
You know, you just go along living your life and…
Carlo and Diego are very excited. Most Honorable is coming up this evening after I teach and staying the night so he can get up absurdly early and go across town to a very nice French Bakery and watch the Tour de France with a pastry, coffee and a bunch of like minded folk.
And then we are going hiking. I am not working!!! Very happy girl.
