we are perpetual emotion machines
churning out love drama and fear
for as long as we’re breathing
for as long as we’re here
we’re not born with souls but
we’re maybe able to grow them
can’t gauge whether or not
until right at the end

our bodies are ninety-percent water
so then functionally ninety-percent
we are made up of our own tears
shed ourselves out when we suffer
maybe replenishing over the years

so we keep spinning
our emotions out we
drink to refill us we
drink to drown the doubt
we are just water
with a trace of salt
solid long enough to not
know what it is all about
