I’m part-Scientist, so I have a theory on why I was so depressed yesterday and this morning. Initially, I thought it was because yesterday was a Planned Rest Day™. (You know, to avoid lifting too many days consecutively, and avoid resting because I “have” to. Best to be proactive with Cumulative Fatigue Management™.) I get anxious when I have time on my hands. I called mulligan on yesterday and figured even unhappy rest would be rest. Well, not quite.

It was really weird how depressed I was this morning. Yesterday, I was disinterested in everything. This morning, even more so. At least I didn’t blow off my shrink appointment. My energy was in the tank, but I know sitting around never gives me more energy. So, after a nap, I went to the gym.

But before that, I had my preworkout stuff. Light bulb turns on. I mathed it weeks ago - one serving is about two cups of coffee. I’m not bingeing like I did with instant coffee. Holy hell, I would do fucking five shots of instant coffee. (I’m weird and got into caffeine jitters.) So, it ends up only being the equivalent of one or two “cups of coffee” three out of five days. (Only on lifting days - pull, push, and leg day.) But I can’t deny the Science™, I immediately felt better when I took my preworkout stuff.

Guess I’ll have to limit it to leg day. I lifted for years without preworkout stuff. It’s almost like a placebo effect. I take it, then I feel like I have to immediately go to the gym to utilize it!

When my mood was in the tank, I promised myself MEAT for dinner. Haven’t decided whether to do TimmyTacos, or TimmySteak. Hey, ho’made steak is cheaper than fast food, and tastier. I’ve also nailed down ho’made steak fries. Mmmmm. Meeeeat and poooh-taayy-tooooes.

Man, if this is only what (accidental) chronic caffeine does to a person, I’m so glad I’m not on a daily mood stabilizer. I’ve seen friends go through utter shit withdrawing from a prescription med. Well, at least I didn’t get a caffeine withdrawal headache. I’m a fucking weenie when it comes to headaches; last caffeine withdrawal headache made me immediately cut back on my intake. Of course, I was also alternating vodka and instant coffee daily, so my body was on a rollercoaster of depressants and stimulants, so… I digress.
