The Mystery of "Nightair" in The Song Remembers When

For the many many years I’ve been singing Stevie Nicks songs at karaoke, there was an anomalous song called Nightair that was always in the list. It was listed as a Fleetwood Mac song along with many other solo Stevie Nicks songs, but there is no Fleetwood Mac nor Stevie Nicks song with that title. I stared at that title from time-to-time over the course of ten years wondering what it was…
I assumed it was a Stevie Nicks song called Nightbird. Although I pride myself on being someone who can sing just about any Stevie Nicks song, I was perplexed by this song. It wasn’t too far out for this song to be available because it was released as a single, but it’s a duet. Not a literal duet, but a difficult song to sing solo simply because of its reliance on the back-up singers.
So one night, I felt bold and put it in… prepared to do both parts myself (however, I thought that would work in my head)… but I was surprised.
It turned out to be one of my top 5 favorite Stevie solo songs. I think this is the sexiest song she’s ever written. How Still My Love is passion pouring over passion and when Nightair started playing, my look of surprise made the KJ turn it off until I looked at him with that “don’t you fucking stop my song” face.
I’ve never wailed like this in my life, and it’s become one of my favorite songs. When I’m forlorn, when I’m in love, when I’m horny… this is what I sing.
This is the live version she released a few years ago.
How still can it be when I sing this....?
