I did not intend to write this entry today - I had something else to comment on - but as I was watching the England-Wales soccer match in France the news came up on the news channel on my phone that a Labour MP in Yorkshire had been stabbed and shot by an individual as she walked in the street.
She was in a critical condition - but at 5 pm it was announced she had died.
A mother of two young children - working for her constituents - and killed in broad daylight by a man who allegedly shouted ‘Britain First’ - a ultra-right wing organisation.
I know the US has seen worse - but this hits at the very heart of democracy - and at a time when political feelings have been exacerbated by the referendum next week. Much of the debate has become acrimonious, and sometimes racist. Some of the politicians conducting themselves in such a way have something to answer to.
By the way, England beat Wales 2 - 1, with a goal in the last minute. So what!!!
