A long, long overdue update... in Fear & Loathing in Steel City

I will first apologize for not posting in almost two months. I have been busy writing comic books (yeah, sounds cool every time I say it) and for the last two weeks I have been sicker than a dog. I was diagnosed with bronchitis and I've been hacking, snorting and all that gross stuff. I'm feeling much better now but am still very sore and tired from the ordeal.

Speaking about my health... I saw a specialist earlier this week to discuss the ongoing battle of the bulge, aka the battle with my weight. I'm down 2 lbs from my last visit but because of my current weight, weak joints and very high blood pressure... the specialist asked me to consider surgery. The want to do what's called a 'Gastric Sleeve'; a surgical procedure in which the stomach is reduced to about 25% of its original size, by surgical removal of a large portion of the stomach along the greater curvature. The result is a sleeve or tube like structure.

I'll be honest when I tell you that the idea of surgery scares me. I've never had surgery ever... but there are benefits if this works out. I will lose a ton of weight, my blood pressure will drop greatly and I will feel much healthier as a result. Less weight would also help with my joint issue as less weight would equal less pressure on each joint. I am undecided so far but am talking to family members and friends about it. If anyone would like to comment about it, I would appreciate your thoughts.

Besides that things are going okay. I was informed by the publisher that issue #1 is printing and that they have ordered 5000 copies. I can't wait to see one and even hold one in my hand. Will definitely take pictures and post here when that happens. I'm actually in the process of writing issue #6 and while it's a lot of work, I've found working on the comic book very rewarding work. My boss also confirmed that they will attempt to book a table for Fan Expo in Toronto this August. If that happens, I will get a full pass for the entire event, even Wednesday to help out with set up. I'm very excited about it and I hope it comes through.

Later this week I get the boys for ten days. School ends this week and you don't have to ask me twice to get extra time with my little dudes. The pool is open, so we'll do lots of afternoon swims. I plan to do a few walks on nature trails and maybe something else if I can afford it. I'm looking forward to it and I hope they are too. They always have fun at Dad's place so I am sure this week will not be an exception.
