You gotta be crazy enough to see the world differently
but sane enough to report your findings cogently
back to the normies. but it’s a balance.
Just as evolution is genetic glitches accidentally causing advantage,
novel thought is having wrong ideas that upon reflection
dissection obsession become the building blocks of new wisdom.
You think
You hear
You see
something incorrectly
then synthesize it with something you knew before
et voila you know something new.
Inspiration is not divine intervention
inspiration is a glitch in a system.
You go mad in small controlled ways
to see new possibly stupid vistas but
processed in your sane mind
the difference can yields radical insight.
All cancers were once cells that were just
trying to divide
to stay alive
but something got mis-replicated in the holy act of translation.
All new traits that made a subset of a species
more survivable and eventually a new thing entirely
were just happy accidents that stuck
because it made those random quirks’ bearers
a little more likely to live long enough to fuck
Let yourself mishear things misread things
Let yourself be distracted take in
too many things at once take things out of order
Let yourself be just a little bit crazy
but not so much they you can’t come back
Return if you can and compare and contrast
Your madness with the old truth then
see what it is that each of them lacks
This is how you’ll have a chance
to suss out new facts
to not just be repeating someone else
to not just be repeating yourself
You’re not failing
you’re innovating
you’re not proving you’re terrible
if you examine it later
you’re innovating.
Wipe that expectation
of straight-As off your face
embrace the true harbinger of change
the ascension of mistakes
the perfection of mistakes.
