Dear Fatty/Frankenstein Graphic Novel (43 and 44) in Book Challenge 2016 (52 books to be read in 52 weeks)

Dear Fatty by Dawn French (370 pages, including acknowledgements) is her autobiography set out in letters to various people. Most are family or friends, some to celebrities. Her writing style comes across as friendly, warm and personable. She writes about her childhood in an RAF household, her father’s death, her career and marriage to (ex) husband Lenny Henry.

Don’t expect shocking revelations or anything earth shattering here. Worth reading. Three stars. Date Read: 23 - 28 May 2016.

Frankenstein: The Graphic Novel by Mary Shelley (text), Clive Bryant (Editor in Chief) et al is pretty much self explanatory (144 pages). I loved the original text, it’s one of my top ten favourite books. So I decided to have a go with the graphic novel. Robert Walton is captaining a ship to the North Pole and, whilst there, he sees a strange sight. A mysterious figure in the distance. Then the crew finds Victor Frankenstein in trouble…what is Victor’s connection to the anonymous figure? Date Read: 24 - 28 May 2016
