bit of a sausage fest in Day to Day

Well it was World Naked Bike Ride (London) weekend and I attended for the sixth consecutive year. The weather wasn’t perfect but the rain kept away and it wasn’t cold. There were thousands of riders this year. It was a bit of a sausage fest, but it was fun. I don’t know if I will do the ride again since my usual partner is planning to move away. I did do it alone last year, and it was good, but it’s more fun with a friend. I’ll probably post some pictures when I have looked through them.

We had the mother of all shouting matches in the office yesterday on the subject of Brexit. It all started because someone poked the office loud-moth who is apparently a passionate “in” campaigner. Every office has a loud-mouth I think. Ours shouts, stamps about, constantly bounces in his chair, drums the desk with his hands, and always like his headphones at a volume loud enough so that the rest of the office can enjoy his choice of audio entertainment. I’ve officially been on the fence, but leaning towards Brexit since the start of the campaign. Ironically, Mr Loud-Mouth’s rant in favour of remaining has pushed me to an almost certain vote to leave.

Most hilarious was his argument that the EU has coincided with “almost a century of peace” and therefore must be a force for good. I did point out that there was a little war in the forties that he appears to have forgotten about, and the breakup of Yugoslavia, Croatia, Serbia, the spats in Argentina, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and various hot spots in Greece,Turkey,Cyprus, and southern Russia (all of which have involved European forces), oh yes and Basque separatist violence, and we of course live in more fear of terrorism in Europe now than at any other time in my life. Then he started screaming about the economic disaster that would befall us if we left Europe. He doesn’t appear to be burdened with the facts, so I left the argument at that point. Latest polls appear to be suggesting a win for the Brexit camp incidentally.

Meanwhile this week, another Muslim nutter has gone berserk in a US gay nightclub and gunned down 50 people. It’s the biggest terrorist body count since 9-11 in 2001. I wonder what it’s like to hate anyone that much.

Russian and British football fans have been fighting in France. Russia has been given a suspended disqualification and several British fans appear to have been thrown in jail.
