Liam Dog and I managed to get up and moving a lot earlier than usual this morning- 9am! We went downstairs and I put on a pot of coffee and put the pork roast in the crockpot. I did it my sis-in-law’s way and just dumped a bunch of cinnamon on top of it.
I noticed that the parts for the dryer had arrived. Since the pieces of the dryer were already scattered all over the back porch it didn’t take much to get it going again. I replaced the heating coil with a new one. And I replaced the center-of-the-back spinny thing with a new one. It is such a bad design. A round piece of metal spinning in a nylon cradle with nothing to keep it from burning up again but a tube of high temperature lubricant. I also cleaned out the insides as best I could. I had a nice Liam Dog sized pile of lint and crap when I finished.
Four hours total time involved!
I turned it on and let it run for thirty minutes, waiting for sparks, smoke, fire, or a squalling noise from hell. Nothing but a quiet turning of the drum and an orange glow from the coil. Nice.
So, that’s the first time I’ve ever rebuilt an electric dryer. Easy, peasy First World bullshit.
And then Liam Dog and I stepped out for a walk only to have it start raining as soon as we stepped off the porch. Sorry dude, next time.
I peeled a pot of taters for some mashed taters for supper.
Later on Daughter helped me finish up the supper fixing’s. And then we had a nice sit-down-at-the-table dinner.
It only poured rain for a couple of hours. Just enough to once again soak my piles of debris in the back yard. Oh, did I mention that the handle on the lawnmower broke off? I had made it around the front yard one time and then it just broke. It had rusted through. I’m thinking I may be able to patch it back together with a stick and some bailing wire. We’ll try that.
So yeah, I’m feeling rather accomplished today. No telling what tomorrow will bring.
