Already a week has gone by in In the Kingdom of Suzu

Can’t believe a week has gone by already here in Barbuda. It is just so peaceful and quiet here—except for the male donkeys braying and trying to get it on—and it isn’t even mating season! Then we have the horse family and OMG, the dad horse just went galloping in front of our cottage to corral his mare—who is pregnant—and their junior colt.

There is a local festival this weekend, the caribana, and small planes have been flying overhead to the private airstrip to bring people in. The ferry is also running extra over, but we only see them in the distance. Once Monday comes, we won’t see the planes only the daily morning and evening one that flies into the official airport on the other side of the island.

We went to the beach day caribana yesterday, complete with beauty pageant, music and local food. The people watching was amazing—have to wonder where some of these people get their clothes—truly “different” looking and then their shapes to go with----if they had the shape to go with, that would be one thing but still! Don’t get me wrong, I see that at home but here it still amazes me—part of it might be that it is hot, how the heck do they get that stuff on and then if you have to go to the bathroom, how do you peel it off!

Today we are going to a horse race, should be interesting, until then, I’m going to the beach!
