So the good news… he’s down to one liter of oxygen now ( i am so confused as to how they measure that.....)
The bad news… well, funny story… so his family doctor and the specialist on his case, can not agree it seems to his antibiotic meds. As in once hes able to go home will he be on the IV for 2 weeks at home as the specialist said, or 6 weeks as the family doc says.. it’s very confusing to both my folks to say the least cause they can never seem to get them both in the room at the same time..
The funniest part about that??? THERE BLOODY HUSBAND (specialist) AND WIFE (family doc)!!!!!!!!!!
Why is it that they can not come together and talk about a mutual patients prognosis/medications/release details at SOME point in the day??? like…oh the car pool to the office (which if memory serves is RIGHT NEXT TO ONE ANOTHERS!). On the car ride home, AT home.... even if they have a ‘don’t talk about work’ rule at home, if you have a mutual patient, but haven’t had the chance to catch each other through the day to talk shop, I would THINK you could take 5 min in the car to do so....
Long story short, they do not currently know how long he will be on the IV, if its only 2 weeks, he’s supposed to be starting pill form after that, which is easier on mom (hopefully the VON will be in to deal with the IV). The down side is as long as he is on this IV, (we have no idea yet if the pill form will be the same reaction) he is also on insulin injections.
There is no way i can see that my 80something year old father is going to give himself needles, and I can just HEAR the RACKET he will put up when mom is trying to administer it. Eye drops, shes a pro at, passing over the pill bottle, shes a gold medal athlete! He sorts out all his meds himself weekly, so she does’t worry about that.. but she’s never had to give anyone any type of needle ever. Not that I am aware of.
He’s a type 2 so once this med is done, he should be able to stop the injections, its just really badly raising hell with his sugars.
He also does not stop running the roads. Seriously. He’s out of the house more then he’s in it during the day. He’s usually out in the morning after breakfast, back, gone again, back for lunch, maybe a quick nap and sometimes gone again until before supper. depends on how he feels.
Then bitches about how hes alone all night and has noone to talk to because moms upstairs working on crafts/scrapbooking/some project or other after she’s spent all day downstairs/outside cooking/cleaning/housework/yardwork…
/sigh gotta love family.
this kinda turned into a rant sorry!
