oh baby oh darling
I’ve held my commission
despite indecision
despite all the derision
I’ve held my commission
despite all the times
it has meant my omission
despite all the dissin’
the jamming transmissions
I’ve held my commission
it’s true
I’ve held my commission
have you?

I am what I am
like some damn cartoon sailor
I am what I am
how we self-perceive
is a most subtle jailer
that prevents evolving
that’s change’s impaler
but I am what I am
that’s how I was tailored
I am what I am
don’t mistake it for failure

dissuade as you will
with your booin’ and hissin’
to mine own self true
despite moaning and pissin’
say whatever else
I’ve held my commission
