No Keys, No Earrings, and No Bra in Everyday Ramblings

This was yesterday morning. We had a full spectrum of weather for our three days and change at the beach. Today it was sunny and warm and the beach was significantly more crowded than it is in this shot. I walked early, about 7 AM and only saw a few folks.
Right now I am in Salem staging my way home. I take the bus/train up home in about an hour. I miss the cats so it will be nice to get to see them and settle back into the home routine. We had a fabulous time.
We made lots of yummy healthy food including our own baked tortilla chips and managed to keep the snacking to a minimum. Kes is still drinking Diet Coke but other than some minor twinges of longing I was fine drinking water and green tea.
And vodka. :) With orange juice of course even though orange juice has a lot of Weight Watchers points.
Did you know that tomatoes and citrus fruit also turn into trace amounts of formaldehyde in the body as well?
I absolutely am not defending Diet Coke or Aspartame but I personally believe it is important to look at the science behind these dietary health claims. We are so emotional and so reactive about food and the choices we make about what to eat.
Buffeted around by all the competing study results, say about dark chocolate…it is good, for you, no it’s not, yes it is but only if it is a certain kind and so on and so forth. And there most definitely are folks out there selling products, and have in the past, knowing they are toxic and cause brain damage and disease.
All you need to do is look into the history of the use of lead in products to be horrified.
But I digress. I am thrilled to have made it two weeks without any soda and look forward to a time when it was just something I did but don’t anymore. I like being a person who doesn’t drink it as this is more in line with the profile of the rest of my life.
We had such a good time; there was much exclaiming of “I don’t have to do anything!” throughout the long weekend.
I was so tired and my brain was full and so there were copious amounts of lazing around with my feet up looking out the window at the ocean. I struggled with easy crossword puzzles while Most Honorable did the Sunday New York Times one in just over an hour. Doing crosswords is like learning a language. One I have been out of touch with a lot over the last ten years or so.
Oh man, looking forward four years, retirement is not going to be a problem for me in any way shape or form other than financial.
I won’t have any trouble keeping myself amused.
