My kids live a short distance from Paisley Park. The night that lbh and I and my kids went to see Garrison Keillor and Prairie Home Companion at the State Fair, there was a to do at Prince’s venue. Maybe that’s where we should have gone.

Yesterday’s sky was full of beautiful, dramatic, endless, eternal and only for a moment clouds. I watched them as I drove home.

The first movie we rented and watched on VCR was Purple Rain.

When U2 won Grammies, Prince said he could entertain drunk white kids, he’d played in LaCrosse.

It was said that Prince was a Jehovah’s Witness and that he would go door to door saving souls.

And here is Mary Oliver. It’s from a little book of poems called A Thousand Mornings.

I Have Decided

I have decided to find myself a home
in the mountains, somewhere high up
where one learns to live peacefully in
the cold and the silence. It’s said that
in such a place certain revelations may
be discovered. That what the spirit
reaches for may actually be felt, if not
exactly understood. Slowly, no doubt. I’m
not talking about a vacation.

Of course, at the same time, I mean to
stay exactly where I am.
