Manhattan in Reverse (260 pages) by Peter F. Hamilton is a set of seven science fiction stories. From the 1800s in Oxford during an alternate time line to a woman protesting the existence of a wormhole, these were generally a quick read. However, the majority of the stories weren’t as interesting as I’d hoped, and were quite forgettable. Wouldn’t read this again.
Date Read: 8 to 11 April 2016.
The Rabbit Back Literature Society by Pasi Ilmari Jaaskelainen (345 pages, including an “appendix”) is set in Finland. Ella Milana works as a teacher, and is invited to join a prestigious writer’s society after the founder is impressed with a story she publishes. However, the founder disappears during the formal dinner put on in Ella’s honour. Books are changing their stories, and Ella finds herself taking part in a mysterious “Game”.
I felt this book was 3 out of 5 stars. My interest waned a bit whilst I read, the second part of the book didn’t feel quite as engaging as the first part. Pity. Date Read: 19 to 23 April 2016.
Total Books Read So Far This Year: 32/52 Pages Read So Far: 7866
