the best we can hope for from social networking
is a future where the myth of flawless living
is dashed by all of our permanent records
where no one can claim to be perfect boy scouts
or girl scouts or good christians or whatever
where the playing field is leveled forever
because we’ve all done a few things stupid
all said a few things unthinkingly now and then
where there’s unsavoury pictures of all of us
to one degree or another out there somewhere
where we can stop pretending that we’re pure
a future where we’re all just fallible people
maybe
or maybe it’ll just be virtual reality sexting
it’ll probably just be virtual reality sexting
but we have to be hopeful sometimes
