If we could see the miracle of single flower clearly, our whole life would change.

There are always flowers for those who want to see them.

Henri Matisse

This Spring has brought us such an extravagant outpouring of flowers that I am still in a state of awe and happiness from being able to witness it all. March and April are the best months of all here in Charleston. The cool nights and days, the fresh Springtime breezes make walking and being outdoors a delight. I try to get in as much of it as I can before the summer sets in.

Azaleas painted the gardens and parks red, pink, white and purple. The last camellias were a poignant end of their distinctive winter blooming period. At Magnolia Gardens and Charles Towne Landing, I photographed daffodils, roses, wisteria, clematis, foxglove, daisies, and of course, a variety of wildflowers including intensely purple violets. At Magnolia Gardens yesterday, good fortune allowed me to be there at the peak of the iris blooms – yellow, purple, white. Stunning in beds of colorful flowers. They have such exquisite color and details.

I am always looking for flowers on my walks and this Spring I have been abundantly blessed.

What beautiful photos, so crisp and clear, and the subjects just lovely. Violets remind me of my mother, they are her favourites. I like, among many others, the pink and yellow verbenas.
