Games with the boys in Adventures in paradise

I just fell asleep on the couch, sitting up. That scares me because it’s something my dad does way too easily. And I’ve done sweet fuck-all today, so I don’t really have a reason to be so tired.
Yesterday was a big day though. I was up at 3am and at gym and then worked all day until 4pm, then went home showered, jumped on a train to Dakabin (which takes just over an hour) and from there I walked to my friend Steve’s place (Google Maps said it was a 19 minute walk).

It was that amount of time, but it didn’t mention there was no god-damn footpath! So cue me, walking on the white line on the side of the road and having to hop down into the unstable grass area whenever I’d hear a car coming behind me. I then walked on the other side of the road so at least then I could see them coming toward me.
I eventually found a footpath, but it only went for about 300 meters, because it’s a new development area/suburb and all the houses are still under construction. I guess in a few months or a year it’ll look a lot different, but I sure felt stupid walking along the road. At least it wasn’t a main road, but the cop car that passed me was a little intimidating. I thought for sure they’d stop and book me for something lol.
I also had one car pass me going the other way and some wanker yelled something, but I couldn’t make out what it was.

I got to Steve’s place. I was the first to arrive and was busting to use the bathroom lol. The other boys arrived shortly after.

Steve showed me a lot of the videos he took from the Madonna concert. It was almost like watching a DVD, the quality was that good. He has such a good phone!
Luke and Rhys (a couple) arrived soon after and Moe was last to arrive.
Steve cooked up his chicken burgers from last time and Luke had brought some Easter chocolates, which were much yummier than the crappy brand I had at home that I too thought about bringing. So glad I didn’t. I ate way too much chocolate there.

Again we played Risk, with the same rules. We still haven’t played the full version of it because it appears quite confusing, but we probably will next time.
It was great to see the boys again. It’d been a few months since the last group catch-up, and we had a lot of laughs as usual. I even managed to crack a few funnies.

I noticed it was 11:45am and I knew the last train was at 12:08am. It wouldn’t have made a big difference if I’d missed it, since my work was closed today so I would have just had to crash the night on Steve’s couch, but I’ve never done that before and would have felt really weird, and all the boys were deep in conversation, so I felt REALLY bad when I had to cut in and ask if someone could drop me off at the train station :(

Thankfully Rhys and Luke dropped me off at Petrie (like last time), but in the rush to make the train, Moe had to move his car out of the way and I didn’t get to say goodbye to him properly and he just took off home :(

I gave Rhys and Luke a hug and a kiss goodbye at the station. It was incredibly nice of them to offer me the lift. I feel bad I’m the only one without a car, and it is a lot of effort to get there and back each time, as it’s over an hour each way to the northside and I live in the city.

I was the only one on the last service home in my carriage, until the train got to Carseldine (where I used to live at one point in time) and these two drunk guys got on and were talking about ‘saving’ and ‘loving’ each other but had clearly just been in a fight with some other guy, so I was thinking ‘oh great’ and took my aerosol out of my pocket just in case.

I’ve become such a wuss lately. I’ve been catching these trains for years with only the odd incident here and there (like that fuckhead on the Gold Coast, but that wasn’t physically on the train, just the station).
There are security on the night trains, but they were off in some other carriage. Luckily those guys got off at the next station. I assume they fare evaded. They didn’t seem like the type who’d obey the law.
So cynical.

I had about a 10-hour sleep, but maybe I still need more to let my body catch up.
